Stekene is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Kemzeke[?] and Stekene proper. On January 1st, 2000 Stekene had a total population of 16,532 (8,228 males and 8,304 females). The total area is 44.94 km² which gives a population density of 367.87 inhabitants per km².
