Lebanon is a city located in Warren County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 16,962. It is the county seat of Warren County6.

Geography

Lebanon is located at 39°25'36" North, 84°12'45" West (39.426724, -84.212631)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 30.5 km² (11.8 mi²). 30.5 km² (11.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 16,962 people, 5,887 households, and 4,209 families residing in the city. The population density is 556.4/km² (1,440.6/mi²). There are 6,218 housing units at an average density of 204.0/km² (528.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 90.98% White, 6.36% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.64% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 1.31% from two or more races. 1.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 5,887 households out of which 40.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.8% are married couples living together, 12.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.5% are non-families. 24.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.08.

In the city the population is spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 36.8% from 25 to 44, 16.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 110.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 114.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $46,856, and the median income for a family is $52,578. Males have a median income of $40,361 versus $27,551 for females. The per capita income for the city is $20,897. 6.4% of the population and 4.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 6.6% are under the age of 18 and 6.3% are 65 or older.
