Lebanon is a town located in York County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 5,083.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 144.5 km² (55.8 mi²). 141.7 km² (54.7 mi²) of it is land and 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.94% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 5,083 people, 1,823 households, and 1,405 families residing in the town. The population density is 35.9/km² (92.9/mi²). There are 2,090 housing units at an average density of 14.7/km² (38.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.49% White, 0.31% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.08% from other races, and 0.59% from two or more races. 0.63% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,823 households out of which 38.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.9% are married couples living together, 9.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.9% are non-families. 17.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.10.
