Basel-Country (in German: Basel-Landschaft) is one of the 26 cantons of Switzerland. The capital is Liestal. It shares borders with the cantons of Basel-City, Solothurn[?], Aargau and the German state of Baden-Württemberg.
Basel-Country formed together with Basle-City the canton Basle until it separated after the uprising of 1823 (Battle of the "Huelftenschanz" near Frenkendorf).
